This year marks the 150th anniversary of the scientific discovery of the giant panda and is also a key year for the pilot construction of the giant panda national park. There are more than 1,300 wild giant pandas in Sichuan, accounting for 75 percent of all found in the country, and it is the historical and present distribution center of giant pandas.

Research and breeding institutions for giant pandas, including the Chengdu Research Base of Giant Panda Breeding, promoted technological innovation, and established a key laboratory of biology for the protection of endangered wildlife in Sichuan province, which has accumulated nearly 100 national patents and major scientific and technological achievements, as well as overcoming the difficulties in breeding, and rearing to further strengthen the genetic research and management of giant pandas.

Chengdu takes the protection of giant pandas as its main focus, centering on scientific research, public education, international exchanges, tourism, cultural creativity, outdoor sports, etc., and organically combining the ecological and cultural value of giant pandas with the construction of Chengdu city to create an ecological home for giant pandas.

On September 25, the Chengdu panda planet and panda base reconstruction and expansion project officially started, the world's "most adorable park" is coming!
